Getting married in Uzès or near Nîmes: where the couple and their family stay
Civil ceremony at Uzès town hall, reception at a Costières de Nîmes wine estate: distances, capacities and whole houses to host the family.
By Boost Loc Pro

A wedding in the Gard often happens in two places: the town hall, then an estate for the reception. In between, the couple, the parents, the witnesses and those travelling from afar need somewhere to stay. Here are two combinations we know well, with measured distances and checked capacities.
In Uzès: the town hall 200 metres from the house
Uzès town hall stands on Place du Duché, opposite the ducal castle. Maison Belon is a 200-metre walk away: the wedding party leaves from the house, crosses two streets of the old town and reaches the town hall with no car and no parking to find.
The house is rented as a whole building: four apartments, ten people. The couple take one floor to get ready, the parents and witnesses the others. There is no one else on the staircase, and the photos can be taken in the lanes nearby before the ceremony.
Good to know: a French civil wedding takes place in the town where one of the spouses, or one of their parents, has their home or residence. Check this with the Uzès registry office before booking anything.
In the Costières de Nîmes: an estate 17 minutes from the villa
South of Nîmes, the Costières wine estates host many receptions. Château Saint-Louis la Perdrix, in Bellegarde, is one of them: a 300 m² reception hall in Beaulieu stone for up to 250 guests, a wooded park of over 7,000 m² for an outdoor ceremony or the drinks, and sixteen rooms in gîtes on site.
Villa Romana is 15 kilometres from the estate, 17 minutes by car. It sleeps twelve, with a pool and garden: close family gets ready there, sleeps there after the party and meets there for the brunch the next day, while the other guests take the estate's rooms or nearby accommodation.
Near the Pont du Gard: a farmhouse for eleven
For a reception around the Pont du Gard or Uzès, the Oustal Di Fabre, in Vers-Pont-du-Gard, sleeps eleven in a stone farmhouse with a pool. It is the house for large families who want to stay together all weekend.
Other reception venues near our houses
Around Villa Romana, south of Nîmes: Le Galambre, a 24-room hotel with halls for 160 and 200 guests, ten minutes away; Mas Merlet, a 17th-century estate for 10 to 400 guests; and Moulin Gazay, a reception estate with no accommodation on site.
Around the Oustal Di Fabre: La Bégude Saint-Pierre, a 23-room hotel hosting weddings of up to 180 guests, two minutes away; and Mas des Sagnes, a private-hire estate in Collias for 60 guests with 48 beds.
Between Uzès and Nîmes, the Prieuré Saint-Nicolas, a listed historic priory, hosts 210 guests and has eleven rooms.
Organising your guests' stay
- Book early: from May to September, the large houses go several months ahead.
- Plan the way back: arrange designated drivers or pre-booked taxis for the end of the evening.
- Group the request: one request for several houses, one invoice, one contact reachable on the day.
To get a proposal, use our Groups, weddings & retreats page with the dates, the headcount and the place of the ceremony.
